From Farnham and the East Alton lies on the A31 Guildford to Winchester Road. The town centre area should be avoided at all costs if approaching from the Basingstoke Road (A339) or the Odiham Road (B3349) as not only is it full of the mandatory speed humps but also involves a lot of side streets with tight turns. If using the M3 from the London direction a better approach is to use the Blackwater Valley Relief Road (A331) from Junction 4 and pick up the A31 at Farnham. If using the A3 turn onto the A31 to the West of Guildford. After passing round Farnham on the A31 proceed to Alton, continuing on the A31. Look for the brown tourist signs when approaching Alton and take the second exit off the roundabout, also signposted as the B3004. The rally site is about a mile from this roundabout. As you pass the Grange Hotel on your left the rally site will be on your right. Go past the Rally site and turn next right into Anstey Lane. |
From Basingstoke Take the A339 road but take care on approaching the town. Look out for the superstore and HGV signs and turn right into Whitedown Lane up to the Butts. This road runs for about 3/4 mile before passing under the railway. As soon as you pass under the railway turn left and head towards the town centre. |
From Winchester Follow the A31 passing Alresford, Ropley and Medstead and Four Marks. As you approach Alton the A32 will join from the right at the Chawton roundabout. Continue towards Farnham and take the next turning (A339) into Alton after 1/2 mile. |
From the South (Using the A32) When the A32 meets the A31 at Chawton roundabout take the A31 towards Farnham and take the next turning (A339) after about 1/2 mile. |
From the South (Using the A3) Leave the A3 near Liss and join the B3006, this will bring you straight into the Butts at Alton. |
General Notes to Drivers All vehicles should after approaching the Butts follow the signs to the railway and the BR station. As you approach the station continue on the road for about 1/2 mile. Turn left into Anstey Lane signposted St John Ambulance, then turn next right into Anstey Park. Would all drivers note that there will be a one-way system in operation within the park. Entry to the park will be from Anstey Lane only. |
